This weekend it turned hot again - highs around 90. Saturday we all went to the Carnegie Science Center (where we have a membership) to see the exhibit on Richard Scarry's Busytown one more time before it leaves town. It's a replica of Busytown, with a grocery store, construction sites, boat harbor, library, etc that the kids can play in. Rene and Corrina also enjoyed a short planetarium show about the constellations. Sunday, Corrina and Hank went to the Salsa Festival at Phipps Botanical Gardens (where we also have a membership). They got balloons and a special treat of POTATO CHIPS! (In an effort to eat more heathfully, we don't keep chips in the house any more). Rene didn't go because she had been playing in the backyard pool and refused to take off her swimsuit until bedtime.

Monday was Corrina's first day at gymnastics! She's been watching Rene from the lobby for nearly two years, and now that she's 3 she's old enough to sign up too. Corrina wore one of Rene's hand-me-down leotards (was Rene ever that little?!) and went right in by herself today with no problem. They have two teachers - Renee (who Corrina already knew because she's taught our Rene for awhile now) and Melissa, a new teacher. Corrina is so petite - she was BY FAR the shortest one there - one girl was a whole head taller than Corrina. There are 9 kids in the class - all 3 year olds - including her buddy Tommy from preschool. His mother Debbi and I coordinated schedules and we signed Corrina and Tommy up for class on Mondays 10 - 10:45 while big sisters Rene and Olivia are at preschool and Rene and Olivia go on Tuesdays 10 - 10:45 while Corrina and Tommy are in preschool. (Debbi and I are the only ones with kids in both Preschool-3 and Preschool-4 at St. Rosalia.) Anyway, today at gymnastics they got an overview of the whole gym and did some somersaults/tumbling on the mats, bars, balance beam, and trampoline (which Corrina calls "the bouncy bouncy").

Tonight we went to Target to get Rene a new leotard since she has completely outgrown the one she wore last session! This was Rene's first time to try on clothes in the dressing room and Rene loved it! She was fascinated by the tri-fold mirrors. We went back several times so she could try on every style in the store - she wanted one with a big puffy skirt and rosettes, but after I explained that the ones with a big skirt are for dancing, not gymnastics, she picked a soft velvety blue leotard (size 7-8!!) with a small filmy skirt embroidered with blue flowers. Very sweet (and not wild like her usual style!) We'll get a picture tomorrow when she puts it on for gymnastics.

Corrina is still not quite back to herself after that stomach thing last week. She has periods where she seems to feel fine and runs around, but she's still having episodes of stomach pain and is still tired. I called the nurse today and she arranged for Corrina to be seen tomorrow while Hank is having his previously scheduled 15 month routine checkup.
