All the cousins went to Raccoon Creek beach for the Memorial Day holiday. The kids swam and played in the water and had a good time. Hank crafted a home-made fishing pole from some pvc pipe, fishing line, and a paper clip - the kid's got ingenuity! He attached some ham to the paper clip and spent hours trying to catch a fish that he could see near the bank. The fish got the ham, but Hank didn't get the fish! He also saw a water snake! Finally I steered him over to the creek and helped him find a turtle - which he caught with a bucket! (Why does this turtle have such a long tail? Do baby turtles have a long tail??) After I taught him where lake animals hide, he was also able to find a crawdad. You can see them in our buckets. He attracted some followers, who couldn't believe we were going to release them - one guy even offered Hank a dollar for the turtle! So Tony and Hank had to sneak off to release them where they wouldn't be re-captured. (Corrina also captured a tiny crawdad!)
Edit: I did some research and discovered the turtle had a long tail because it was a snapping turtle!
