Corrina had her 5-year checkup today. She grew 3 inches and 4 pounds this year - up to 37 lbs and 40 3/4 inches. She had such a big growth spurt that she moved from the 5th percentile to the 10th percentile for both height and weight! She did fine on the hearing and vision screens, and everything was absolutely normal. She had to get 3 pre-kindergarten shots - she was fine for the first two, but the third one made her cry. The nurse said the MMR does sting more than the others.

Over the weekend we went to the Carnegie Museum. We have a membership and usually stick with the natural history exhibits (their favorite is crawling through a simulated Egyptian tomb) but this time we took a rare visit to the art exhibits, and the kids also did an art activity where they took clipboards and searched the museum for columns, then created their own 3-D column. The artsy mood stuck with Rene. The first picture is Rene preparing to do an art installation - she lined up the marbles in patterns - one on each square of our rug! (Unfortunately her installation did not get roped off and didn't last long enough to photograph!)

Hank and Corrina play so well together - it's a joy to watch them in pretend-play. They are just amazing at taking everyday objects and turning them into something to play with. The second picture is of Corrina, parading around with the fancy umbrella she got for her birthday. She parades over to Marlene's house, escorting Hank under the umbrella, pretending to be a fancy lady taking trips to the ice cream parlor.
The last picture is Hank pretending to be a baby for Corrina - in his milk-crate playpen.
