Rene and Corrina started school today. They both start at 8am, so Tony takes them both in the morning on the way to work. Corrina is thrilled because last year she started at 8:30 and Daddy couldn't take her, so she would give him hug after hug not wanting him to leave her at home! Both girls did great this morning - woke up easily, seemed happy and at ease in their classrooms.

Rene is in first grade and her teacher is Miss Tuschak. There are 16 students in her class - all from last year. Her assignment for the first day was to fill a paper bag with show and tell items that show who you are. Rene filled hers with: 1) gymnastics ribbons, 2) note from the tooth fairy, 3) picture of her favorite foods - pizza, shrimp, macaroni and cheese, and 4) she made a model of herself riding a 2-wheel bicycle - attached it to a popsicle stick, and moved it along a model of the bike trail she loves!

Corrina is in kindergarten and her teacher is Mrs. Laughlin, who taught Rene last year. There are 11 students in her class - 9 from last year and 2 new students. Corrina and two other kids are going half-day - leaving at 11:30 while the others stay until 2:30. Corrina's favorite thing at school today was a song called "What are you wearing?" and the children get to stand up if they are wearing the clothing item named. Corrina got to stand for "dress" and "socks". Tomorrow Rene and Corrina will have gym together - they have gym on Tuesdays and Friday. Kindergarten and 1st grade will be combined for gym and computers this year.

Hank has orientation tomorrow and will start preschool next week. His teacher is Miss Haubach and the aide is Mrs. Fay. There are 9 students in his class. The PK3 class is always small because you have to be potty trained; Hank had to get special permission from the principal to go in pull-ups because he is still working on potty training.

Rene lost her fifth tooth last week - her first top one, and it left a large gap you might be able to see in her picture. Luckily this one was bonked loose in the swimming pool and came out much easier than the excruciatingly slow ones before!

The final picture is Corrina and Hank singing in the rain. They LOVE those umbrellas - Corrina's was a gift on her birthday, Hank won his during a wheel of fortune game at the Fourth of July fireworks downtown :-)
